William Baker

William Fred Baker, age 72, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin died Friday, September 22, 2017 at Wm S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. John K. Stake will officiate. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Bill was born June 3, 1945 in Rockford, Illinois to Thomas Franklin and Leona (Westfall) Baker. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army. Bill married Phyllis Ann Howlett on July 15, 1967 in Rockford, Illinois. They lived in Rockford for a short time before moving to Friendship in 1983. Bill worked as a potato farmer for many years before retiring in 2004. Bill and Phyllis moved to Wisconsin Rapids in 2008.

Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving his Dodge Challenger, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bill was a member of American Legion.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Baker; wife, Phyllis Baker; and brother, Thomas Wysong.

Survivors include his daughters: Veronica (Wayne M. Olson) Baker, Amy (Keith) Prenot, and Julie (Rich) Davenport; son: Bill (Karen) Pewitt; father: Thomas Baker; sisters: Rhonda Allen and Penny Baker; brother, Butch Baker; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Bill was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War.
