Shirley Evelyn Glenzer

Shirley Evelyn Glenzer, age 87, of Coloma, Wisconsin passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Sat. July 22, 2017 at the Calvary United Methodist in Coloma. Rev. Joan Frost will officiate. Interment will be at the Saron UCC Cemetery, Plymouth, Wisconsin at a later date. Visitation will be at the Calvary United Methodist on Saturday, July 22nd from 12 Noon to the time of service.

Shirley was born March 10, 1930 in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin to Warren and Rose (TeHennepe) Hokanson. She married Gilbert Harry Oscar Glenzer on December 9, 1950 in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. Shirley was a teacher and Principal at Plainview School in Merton, Wisconsin. She was also a reporter for the Lake Country Reporter in Hartland, CNA at Waukesha County Home, and Published Writer and Poet.

Shirley was a long-time member of the Coloma Lions, active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors, Coloma Library Volunteer, Coloma Historical Society, Bible School Teacher, and a member of the Ladies Aide. She was a Brownie Leader, Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader. What she loved best was being a mother to her wonderful children and grandmother & great-grandmother to every child she ever met.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Glenzer; parents, Warren & Rose Hokanson; sister, Virginia “Ginger” (Earl) Wilsing; granddaughter, Misty Peterson; great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Sumpter; brothers-in-law, Herbert (Doris) Glenzer and Robert Glenzer; and daughter-in-law, Jean Glenzer.

Daughter: Susan (Don) Franz of Roscoe, Illinois
