Shirley E. Andersen

Andersen photo_webShirley E. Andersen, age 78, of Big Flats, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at her home.

Memorial services will be on January 2, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Big Flats Town Hall (pending availability).

Shirley was born May 20, 1937 in Big Flats, Wisconsin to Enoch and Gladys (Miller) Haskins.

She married Frank F. Bade and together they had seven children, Donald, Ronald, Rosemarie, Donnamae, Maryjane, Diane, and Baby Bade. They were later divorced and Frank passed away in June of 1970.  Shirley married Alfred M. Andersen on October 29, 1966 in Racine, Wisconsin. This marriage was blessed with one daughter Tracy. In 1975 they brought their granddaughter Christine home from the hospital and raised her as one of their own children. Alfred preceded her in death in June of 2012.

She worked in Racine for a publishing company and after moving to Big Flats she worked at the Big Flats Bar, the Rockview Inn, and for Farnam in Necedah. Shirley was also a founding member of the Big Flats Fire Department and served on the Town Board.

Shirley loved to crochet and she made blankets & scarfs for the children at headstart. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Enoch & Gladys Haskins; husband, Alfred Andersen; first husband, Frank Bade; sons, Donald & Ronald Bade; daughter, Diane Bade; infant daughter, Baby Bade; brothers, Claude & Henry Haskins; son-in-law, Donald Campbell Jr.; Step-daughter, Laura Miller and Dog, Ginger.

Daughter: Karen (Ron) Cummings of Marshfield, Wisconsin
Daughter: Jean (Thom) Gerretsen of Marshfield, Wisconsin
Daughter: Judy (Rick) Fox of Neillsville, Wisconsin
Sister: Lauramae Stubbe of Hancock, Wisconsin
Sister: Rosie (Lenny) Piscarski of Stevens Point, Wisconsin
Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members
Dog: Ariel

    I went to school with Shirley,Laura, and Claude and my mother Jane Rathermel was their teacher for quite a few years. Mr. Haskins worked for my dad when they were clearing for petenwell dam. She was a very friendly person and will be missed. May she rest in peace and be with Al.
