Ruth was born February 16, 1922, in Quincy Township, Adams County, Wisconsin, to Gustaf and Olive (Holden) Holmquist. Early years were spent in Chicago, and later on the family farm in Quincy. She graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School 1940. Ruth married William Anderson in June 1941. A year later, Bill was drafted. He was killed in action in Germany 1945. Aunt Ruth was a special person, much loved by her brother Eric. I have many wonderful memories of her, especially in her kitchen and outside in the garden. As she aged she reminded me more and more of grandma Olive, a very good thing. Please be comforted, Aunt Shirley, Sherry, Janet and families, that she is remembered warmly and with a smile by many.

Aunt Ruth was one of the best aunts I’ve had. My sister and I spent a lot of time with her on the farm when we were young. I didn’t get to spend much time with her as I got older, but I loved her dearly. She was a funny lady and spunky. My husband, Dave, and I loved visiting with her. We will miss her greatly. We know she is with Our Heavenly Father now where she wanted to be. Our love and prayers are with all of her family members.
