Russell E. Owens

Russell E. Owens, age 92, of Friendship, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Memorial services will be 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Terri Skildum will officiate. Interment will be at the South Arkdale Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Russ was born March 11, 1925 in Winchester, Illinois to John W. and Lillie (Anders) Owens.

He married Betty J. Stormoen on August 31, 1948 in Dellwood, Wisconsin. They were married for 67 years.

Russ, Betty and their children moved to Friendship from LaGrange, Illinois in 1965 to open and operate Mound View Resort.

Russ later retired from Slater & Slater Inc. He traveled throughout the Midwest clearing train derailments.

His love of gardening & flowers led to a successful landscaping business.

Russ enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially visiting his neighbors.

He was a member of the Mason Quincy Lodge #71.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, John & Lillie Owens; sons, Dennis R. Owens & Ronald E. Owens and brothers, Charles & George Owens.

Survivors:
Wife: Betty Owens of Friendship, Wisconsin
Daughter: Linda (David) Chisholm of Fort Myers, Florida
Grandson: Ronald (Lisa) Owens Jr. of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin
Granddaughter: Kristine (John) Hoel of Rockford, Illinois
Great-Grandchildren: Tyler, Cole, Spencer, Taylor, and Madison
Further survived by many nieces and nephews

Russ’s family would like to thank the staff at Villa Pines Living Center for the love and excellent care.
