Bob was born June 7, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Pearl (Meurer) and Bernard (Ben) Heigl.
He attended Holy Trinity School in Winsted, Minnesota, St. John’s Preparatory School in Collegeville, Minnesota, and graduated from Howard Lake Public High School, Howard Lake, Minnesota.

In Bob’s younger years, he and his friends raised cain in the Winsted/Howard Lake area, such as flying an airplane without a license, which he “borrowed” when he was supposed to be in school. Father Wey channeled Bob’s youthful “energy” into Golden Gloves boxing.

His passions were woodworking and enjoying a good steak with friends. Bob’s other hobbies included hunting, bowling, snowmobiling, motorcycling, playing cards, and watch collecting.

He had some ups and downs in his life, but essentially, he lived it his way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard, who passed away on July 27, 2017

Bob is survived by four daughters: Jeanette (Jerome) Kegler of Lester Prairie, Minnesota; Joan (Ivan) Prehn of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin; Diane (Ralph) Prehn of Lester Prairie, Minnesota; and Dawn Joy Heigl of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Other survivors include his 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Carol Heigl of Youngsville, North Carolina, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob also leaves behind a very special friend, Harriet Fortun.

He will be sadly missed by many friends and relatives but leaves us all with special memories.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the doctors and especially the staff of Fair View Nursing Home.
