Raymond Ernst Gieringer

Raymond Ernst Gieringer, age 91, of Adams, formerly of Oshkosh and Ft. Pierce, Florida, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Liberty Village in Adams, Wisconsin.

He was born October 31, 1925, in Milwaukee to the late Robert and Rose (Heinzmann) Gieringer. Ray was a graduate of Marquette University, earning a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Juris Doctor of Law degree. He served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserves during World War II. On November 20, 1948, Ray married the love of his life, Marion Lois Severson, in Milwaukee. Throughout his career, he practiced law both privately and in public service. Raymond was also president of the Giant Grip Manufacturing Company in Oshkosh, a commercial drop forge company, that he ran with his brother. He then was the secretary/treasurer and founder of Omro Gear & Machine until he became Adams County Judge. Ray also had a family interest in Bula-Gieringer Farms and, until recently, was still active as a partner in CETS, LLC (Controlled Environment Technology Systems).

Ray served as Past Master of the Winneconne Lodge 186 Masons, was a member of the Adams Lodge, and the Tripoli Shrine. He was grateful to have been part of a WWII Honor Flight. Ray’s family was his pride and joy and they include: his wife of 68 years, Marion Gieringer, of Adams; their children, Jill (Michael) Edwards, of Adams; Mark Gieringer, of Coloma; Susan Bradford, of Oshkosh; Kris (Randal Jr.) Coakley, of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Randal Coakley III, of Chicago; Kimberly Coakley (Tim) McCue, of St. Charles, Illinois; Erin Edwards (Adrian) Calvin, of Oshkosh; Alan (Kristin) Bradford, of New Berlin; Heather Gieringer, of San Antonio, Texas; Jeffrey (Becky) Edwards, of Kimberly; Elizabeth Bradford, of Denver, Colorado; Tyler Coakley, of Oshkosh; Morgan Coakley, of Chicago; Jonathon Gieringer, of DePere; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Callahan, and Brady McCue, of St. Charles, Illinois; Payton and Ryan Coakley, of Park Ridge, Illinois; Preston and Alyssa Calvin, of Oshkosh; Carson and Brady Bradford, of New Berlin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with his parents, Ray was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Robert, Walter, and Arthur Gieringer, and Erna Hauser.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m.

A memorial in Ray’s name will be established for the Shriners Hospital for Children and may be directed to Mueller Funeral Home, 904 E. Main St., Winneconne, WI 54986.
