  8. Randy Pettey says:

My mom Lois and I give our sincere condolences to all on the death of “Ranny”.
Ranny was a good friend of our family. My father Ev Pettey (passed away 2008) was good friends with him dating back to their teenage years.

I knew Ranny my entire life. I recall many hunting adventures, fishing, and other good times with him. His art work survives him and continues to be enjoyed.

Ranny was pleasant, cheerful, and fun to be around. He always seemed to be positive. I can say he had a positive impact on my life and I am grateful for having the chance to have known him.

Though he has moved on to the next plane of existence, I am sure he is sharing good times with old friends and family.
    God’s speed,
    The Pettey family

  11. Jeffrey John Showers and Family says:

    Tom, Julie, Jolene and Tammy

Randy was a building block of my life. I spent many summers at 708 Bartels Street in the Village and later at 5312 Maher Ave. They were the best times in my life. I was with Tim, Tom, Julie, Jolene, Tammy, Roxanne, Rochelle, Rhonda and Renae my cousins and with them we had some of the best days of my life. Going to the Cabin at Friendship-Adams, Jumping off White Bridge, Black Bridge and of course fishing, boating and swimming. At night we would fish and raid gardens of their bounty. I can remember the smell of the breakfast meal and the faint oder of the match Gran Ma Nina used to start the gas kitchen stove. Gran Pa Leroy would come home and I would drink the left over coffee in his thermos cream and lots of sugar. And of course the stove where Gran Pa would put his beer to warm it up.
Randy was a talented artist, hunter, trap shooter and of course a talker. Very quick witted and had unlimited jokes and advice which I sometimes could not tell the difference. I can still see the painting on the wall of the room. pheasants if I remember correctly. I do not ever remember him getting angry over anything. He endured the death of his wife Gloria, his oldest son Tim and his older sister Arlene, younger sister Judy and most recently his brother Greg. He took it all in stride and made the best of any situation. He taught me so much about the joys of just being a kid. Never judgmental, never talked down to anyone or me, he treated me the same as his own children. And that is saying a lot about his character and his caring for all those he came in contact with during his life. He was one of the Greatest Generation and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a wonderful, caring person.
