Peter Gaertner, age 76, of Mauston, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Monday, October 16, 2017, at Fair View Nursing Home in Mauston, Wisconsin after a long illness.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Peter was born June 18, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Peter and Pearl Gaertner.
He married Deborah L. John in 1975 in Cook County, Illinois.
Peter was a sheet metal worker, local #73 in Chicago for over 30 years, retiring from the union in 2003.
Peter enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, bowling, dancing, gambling, and having a good time with friends.
He was a member of local #73 in Chicago.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Peter & Pearl Gaertner; brothers, John (Meredith) Gaertner & George (Dianna) Gaertner; sisters, Lori Smith & Jeanne (Leonard) Gilardi.

Pete will be remembered fondly on Carson Heights. Lots of campfires, wig parties, friendship. I will always be grateful for his kindness to my dog Meiko (she loved Pete). She would walk over to visit when she saw a campfire burning. Gary will miss having coffee with Pete in the morning as he did from time to time. We wish the best for Deb and the family going forward.
