Patrick Jay McKinster

Patrick Jay McKinster, age 63, of Nekoosa, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Saturday, October 21, 2017 at home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Pat was born October 20, 1954 in Grafton, Wisconsin to Richard John and Lila Anne (Olson) McKinster. He grew up in Cascade, Wisconsin before moving to Big Flats in 1969. Pat joined the Navy in 1972 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked in Milwaukee and in Wisconsin Rapids at the Paper Mill.

Patrick took every opportunity to be on his Valkyrie and his new Can-am Spider. He loved the peace of sitting in his deer stand and hunting, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his friends.

Patrick was an avid member of Abate of Wisconsin, the Disabled American Veterans. He was involved in many charity rides with Abate for local organizations including Angel Tree Fundraiser.

He was an amazing father, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He unconditionally loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and great-grandson. He always helped whoever needed it. He was a treasure to us all, and he missed deeply.

Memorials may be directed in Patrick’s memory to Adams-Marquette County Region 2J Chapter of Abate of Wisconsin.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lila McKinster; brother, Jack McKinster; sister, Cheri (Pat) Hupf; sister-in-law, Jodi Murray; and his best friend, Larry Schuricht.

To have Pat as a friend was to have a TRUE friend. He would do anything for a friend, and often for strangers as well. Pat was also a true gentleman. His heart was golden. His laughter was music. His kindness was endless. Many a good times were shared with him. Some bad times as well. He made the bad times more bearable, by just being there. My love and prayers go to both his family and the many friends who will miss him deeply, myself being one of them.
