Mildred Hazel Lambert

Mildred Hazel Lambert passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family in Anoka MN at the age of 101.

She was born September 27, 1916 to Roy and Flossie Haskins in Adams County WI. Her mother died at her birth and she was raised by her grandmother, Frances Haskins and from the age of 2 by her stepmother Clara (Forman) Haskins. She enjoyed many adventures growing up at a resort on Jordan Lake that her dad managed. She graduated from Westfield High School. It was at Jordan Lake that she met Chuck (Charles) Lambert. They were married on Nov. 3, 1939 and shared 59 years together before his passing in 1998. They had two daughters, Ruth, born in 1943 and Laela, born in 1946. They moved to Friendship in 1947 where they raised their family and spent the rest of their life together. Mildred moved to Andover MN at the age of 90 to be closer to her daughter Ruth.

Mildred loved to cook and bake, family favorites include her apple pie, fruitcake and fudge. But it is in the use of her sewing machine that she excelled. Cutting patterns out of newspaper she made most of the girl’s clothes then began to sew for many of the people in the Friendship community doing alterations and creating prom, bridesmaid’s, flower girl dresses including Ruth’s wedding dress.

She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, her son-in-law Donald Orth, her sisters, Eileen Drew and Francis Alexander, and many brothers and sisters in law.

She is survived by her daughter Ruth Orth Jensen(Bob), grandson Michael Orth (Victorine), great grandsons Donald, Prince, Clovis, and Jordan, and Melissa Wurdock (Tim), great grandsons Donald, Luke, Anthony and Nicholas. Mildred is also blessed with six loving step grandchildren and their families. She is also survived by her daughter Laela Shimer(Dick), granddaughters Dona Shimer and Sara Brady(Darren), and great granddaughter Emma Haines. Also surviving Mildred are her brother-in-law Art Lambert, sister-in-law Helen Lambert, and many nieces and nephews who continued to be an important part of her life.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at Davis Corner’s United Methodist Church. Pastor Lee Bushweiler will officiate. Interment will beat at Gould Rock Cemetery on the family plot. A luncheon will follow at the Grand Marsh Community Center.
