Mary Elaine Riese

Mary Elaine Riese, age 100, of Friendship, Wisconsin died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin where she resided since 2007.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship. Pastor Milt Duntley will officiate. Interment will be at the Big Flats Cemetery, Town of Big Flats, Adams County, Wisconsin. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Mary was born October 17, 1917, in LaHarpe, Illinois to Mildred O. Roller. She grew up in the home of her grandparents, George and Rosa Roller.

In 1945, she married Arthur “Fred” Schieber. They moved to Adams County, Big Flats Township, in 1960, and subsequently divorced. Elaine married Elmer W. Riese on February 18, 1967, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams, Wisconsin. Elmer worked for Big Flats Township and together they engaged in farming the Riese family farm on Buttercup Ave. Elaine also worked at the Mauston Dress Factory and Moss Floral in Adams.

Mary enjoyed birdwatching, was a gardener and excellent cook and baker. She loved pretty clothes and jewelry.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred; husband, Elmer Riese (December 9, 1982); brother, Leland Mathewson and sister-in-law, Shirley Mathewson-Mohlenbruck.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to Adams County Humane Society, the Big Flats Fire Department, or a charity of your choice.
