Marcus L. Knuf

Marcus L. Knuf, age 82, of Friendship WI, passed away at Strawberry Lane Rehab in Wisconsin Rapids on May 7, 2017.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. John K. Stake will officiate. Visitation will be at Roseberry’s Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mark was born April 13, 1935 in Cadott WI. Mark was confirmed in the March Rapids Lutheran church while living in Little Rose. After moving to Unity, Wisconsin, he graduated from Unity High School and received a scholarship to UW-River Falls and majored in construction. From there he and his buddies moved to Milwaukee to find jobs. After working and saving, Mark started a concrete business in Milwaukee. Many quality concrete structures in Milwaukee have his sweat and stamp of approval on them to this day. On the lighter side, Mark was an avid hunter and fisherman with many trophies on his cabin walls. Moose, elk, white tail deer, black beer and any kind of fish you can think of would be starring you in the eye as you enjoy a beverage from his downstairs bar. He got to know the fishing holes in the area like he knew his concrete business. You could count on catching the limit and then some when fishing with Mark. He was also a lifetime Milwaukee Brewers fan. It was in Milwaukee where he met the love of his life while running his concrete business.

He married Delores Rybak on December 10, 1977 in Milwaukee Wisconsin and continued his business in Big Flats, Wisconsin into his retirement years. Mark and Delores built their little dream cabin in the woods. Together, Mark and Delores enjoyed cooking, fishing, making wood, bargain hunting and refurbishing things by making something from nothing. They both were great cooks and used their cooking skills by entertaining their friends and family. They loved to decorate the yard for Halloween and Christmas and enjoyed their flowers and garden in the summer time. They also loved feeding the hummingbirds on their front porch and watching the deer in their front yard.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Delores and his brother Phil. He is survived by his siblings Evelyn Kops (Gerald), Caroline Glaeser (Roger), Verna Jean Fruth (Ron), Anita Wesler (Huff), and Reuben Knuf (Joyce). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces, nephews, step-son Robert Rybak, and step-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Mark’s neighbors and friends that helped him out as needed and the group of Angels from Hospice of Aspirus, Strawberry Lane Rehab and especially his family at Renaissance Assisted Care of Wisconsin Rapids for the wonderful care and for making Mark comfortable during his last days.
