I told him no you’ll be here at the restaurant again. So I was so surprised to hear the news. God bless him. No more pain and discomfort. Lori you something let me know.your friend Patty Schiefer.

  3. Little Sh*t says:

When I first met him over a decade ago, I was fairly certain that he hated me. Now, I don’t think he had the capacity to “hate” a chubby long-haired 14 year-old who sometimes played video games at his son’s house, but at the time, he came off a little gruff. Over the hundreds of hours of video games and dinners, more and more layers of Leon were shed away. He was a caring, concerned parent. He cared about his son’s friends and where they were going after graduation. He wanted to know what we were all doing with our lives. The last time I believe I saw Leon was a few years ago. I told him that I was going to school for television writing in Chicago, and that I was probably going to have to move out to LA in a little while. He (just like most members of my own family) had no idea what that meant, but (just like most members of my own family) supported the former chubby, shaggy-haired 14 year-old who once thought he was greatly disliked. If I remember correctly, the last thing Leon said to me was “Good luck out there”. That meant a lot to me, as I sit here in the LA sun writing this. Leon had a large effect on me through his life, I can’t imagine what his loved ones are going through at this time. Laurie and Dan, I am so sorry you are experiencing this pain. His is a presence that could never be replaced. My door is always open.

  11. Rosalia Coffen says:

My love and prayers go out for each of you as you face life without Leon–brother, husband, friend, cousin, father. I was impressed by his positive attitude that he was going to beat this thing, just as he had other major medical hurtles in the past. It is sad that this time that wasn’t to be. May God sustain and bless you.

  12. Rosalia Coffen says:

My love and prayers are with each of you as you look at life without Leon. I’m sure you’ll miss him in many ways, but also feel relief that he is no longer going through the “terrible” life he lived during all his treatments to get rid of the cancer growing in him. I appreciated his positive outlook during those months of treatment that he was going to beat this. So sad that that didn’t happen.
