Larry J. Stemper, age 66, of Adams, Wisconsin died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Serenity House in Tomah, Wisconsin.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. John K. Stake will officiate. Visitation will be 12 Noon until the time of service on Sunday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.
Interment will be at the White Creek Cemetery, Town of Easton, Wisconsin at a later date.
Larry was born January 1, 1951 in Hammond, Indiana to Michael F. and Ruth (Wildermuth) Stemper. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army. During his time in the Army he was stationed in Vietnam, Germany, Philippines, Korea, and Panama. He retired from the Army in 1993. He married Linda G. Hammond on April 6, 1974 in White Creek Congregational Church. Larry drove semi-truck for 13 years.
In October 2016, he was chosen to go on the Badger Honor Flight to Washington D.C. accompanied by fellow veteran and friend, Keith Lanphear.
Larry enjoyed fishing with his brother. He enjoyed playing blackjack and was quite good at it. Larry especially loved when relatives and friends came to visit. His best “buddy” at home was “Sarge” an orange tabby that could always make him laugh with his silly antics and purr to make his feel better.
Larry was a member of Grand Marsh Lions and a lifetime member of the Castle Rock Vietnam Vets Chapter 729.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Ruth Stemper; son, Triston M. Stemper; brother, Gerald Stemper; sister, Mary Stemper; and half-brother, Phil Cutrell;

Great-Nephew: Brandon Schuett of Baraboo, Wisconsin
Larry was generous and kind person and was always ready and willing to help out. He donated to “Feline Friends” and “Stuff the Bus.”
