Kathleen Rose Pier

Kathleen Rose Pier, age 78, of the Town of Rome, Wisconsin passed peacefully into Eternal Life on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield following a brief battle with cancer.

Private family services were held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Timothy Wenger of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids officiated. Interment was at Spring Branch Cemetery in the Town of Rome.

Kathleen was born on January 9, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Throughout her young life the most important thing to Kathleen were her parents whom she deeply cherished.

Kathleen married Maynard Pier on November 1, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Engaged shortly after their first date they married six months later. Together for 57 years they were the love of each other’s lives. During that time Kathleen was a devoted wife and mother. Later in life Kathleen enjoyed travelling all over the western United States with her husband making many fond memories of the places they visited.

Kathleen always loved creating things with her hands. Crocheting, cross-stitching, card making and scrapbooking were her favorites. Several of her projects received blue ribbons at the local and state levels of the Annual Home & Community Educators Cultural Arts Competition. One of her projects also received a blue ribbon at the Adams County Fair. As a member and officer of HCE Romemakers Kathleen enjoyed volunteering and participating in community activities. She also enjoyed attending social activities with her fellow Red Hat Society members. Practically every event meant the need to create a new hat and having a really good Hoot of a time. Kathleen was a founding member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Ryan Larson Unit #65 of Rome.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Maynard who passed away from cancer in August of 2015. Since his death she found great comfort in starting each day with devotions and prayer. Even more so after her own cancer diagnosis.

Kathleen is survived by her adoring and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Lori and DJ Djumadi of the Town of Rome; loving son Doug (Cindy) Pier of Green Bay; cherished grandson Jordan (Hilary) Djumadi of Wisconsin Rapids and dear nephew Rick (Gail) Pier of Sherwood, Oregon. She is also survived by her treasured friend Shelly Heise and furry companion Buttons who cuddled by her side every night.
Roseberry’s Funeral Home compassionately assisted the family with arrangements.
