Katherine M. Cwikla

Katherine M. Cwikla, age 77, of Friendship, WI passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Katherine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her Catholic faith carried her through her whole life and her battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Frank of 56 years of marriage, daughters Rita Dobrecevich (Dan), Nancy Cwikla, and son Michael Cwikla (Ann), her grandchildren Amanda Gomez (Andy), Heather Houston (Tell), Mikey Cwikla, Nicholas Cwikla, Anthony Cwikla, Austin Dobrecevich, Andrew Cwikla, and Seven great grandchildren Josie, Matthew, Luke, Lyndon, Charlie, Felicity and Lucia.

Katherine was married to Frank Cwikla in 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Friendship, Wisconsin when their children were very young. Katherine owned and operated Main Street Station for 36 years with her son Mike and her family by her side. Then she retired to enjoy travelling with her boyfriend/husband Frank to many car shows, visits to Croatia, and spending winter months in Phoenix with her daughter. Katherine loved and always made sure she attended confirmations, graduations, weddings, family reunions, and baptisms. Most important to Katherine was spending time with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be designated for cancer research at Mayo Clinic. Memorials can be made online at www.mayoclinic.org/development or mailed to Department of Development, Mayo Clinic, 200 First St SW, Rochester, MN 55905.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18th, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Francis Dias will officiate. Interment will be at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Roseberry’s Funeral Home on Monday, April 17th, from 5 to 7 p.m, with a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call on Tuesday, April 18th, at the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.

I have known Kay most of my life of not all my life… My mom use to work for her many years ago.. i also got the chance to work for her she taught me lots and had so much faith in me… Showed me I was capable of anything as long as I put my mind into it.     This is a loss for community…….So many people knew and loved Kay. I myself do not remember life without her. When I was little she always let me help her in the kitchen and behind the bar. Even though I had my own bar to play at……. Main Street was the best!!! As I grew older some of my fondest memories involved her. Tavern league outings on the boat were the best with Kay. She had a wonderful smile and could always make a person feel happy when they were down. Hold your memories close….I promise you she will never be forgotten.
