Joseph Michael Ellinger

Joseph Michael Ellinger, age 48, passed away at his home in Albany, Wisconsin.

Joe was born January 16, 1970, in Madison to Jack and Mary (Zentner) Ellinger. Joe attended LaFollette High School in Madison and graduated from UW Madison in 1992. Joe worked at Covance Laboratory Services for many years, and most recently at Dean Clinic.

Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman who had a life-long love of the outdoors. Joe also loved time with family, and nothing brought him greater joy than his children, Anna and Logan. Joe had a kind heart and will be deeply missed.

Joe is survived by his children, Anna and Logan Ellinger, Albany, WI; his parents, Jack and Mary Ellinger, Madison; his sister Lisa Ellinger (Andy Richards), Monona; his brother John Ellinger, Madison; his nephew Andrew Ellinger, Freeport, Ill; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private service for the family will be on July 3, 2018.

    My wife Becky and I met Joe while attending UW Madison in the 90’s and have many great memories of fun times together. Joe was a great roommate and could be counted on whenever someone needed extra help with anything. He was kind, generous, and always a dependable friend. Whether it was outdoors in the woods, or hanging around downtown, Joe was always there with a smile on his face.

    My heart is breaking and my eyes are rivers of tears as I just was made aware today of the loss of my friend Joe. We rented a house together back in the early 90’s and worked together for many years at Covance. Joe was a true friend, a great listener, and he was pretty darn funny too…. we laughed constantly.
