John J. Breene

John J. Breene, age 89, of Adams, Wisconsin died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Fair View Nursing Home in Mauston, Wisconsin following a short illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church
in Friendship, Wisconsin. Father Francis Dias will officiate. Interment will be at the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin. Military Honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

John was born July 19, 1926 in Adams, Wisconsin to John Edward and Freda Anna (Hoeft) Breene. He took over the family farm after his father took ill. John served during the Korean War in the Army. He married Sylvia Mary Pavelec on August 23, 1954 in Adams, Wisconsin. They made their home in Easton where John and Sylvia operated a dairy farm until 1976. They continued to crop farm until 1991.

John enjoyed fishing, gardening, casino trips, reading, analyzing and discussing politics, managing his investments and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

John was very active in the community serving as Easton Town Supervisor, St. Joseph’s Parish Council, member and lector, St. Leo’s Cemetery Trustee, Vice President of Arkdale Fire Insurance Company, and a member of
Adams County Housing Authority, Library Board of Trustees, Land Conservation Committee, ASCS Local Committee, ASCS County Committee, PCA Committee, Adams County Development Corporation, Wisconsin Hay Council, and Adams County Draft Board.

Memorials may be directed in John’s memory to American Heart Association.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Freda; son, Patrick; and brother, Fenton.

Son: Paul (Kathleen) Breene of Portage, Wisconsin
Grandchildren: Kathryn, Jaclyn (Tyler), Christopher, Megan, Devon, Tim, Amanda, Hayden, Parker, and Chandler
Great-Grandchild: Olivia
Brother: William (Patricia) Breene of Waunakee, Wisconsin
Brother: James (Christine) Breene of Adams, Wisconsin
Further survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
