Joey F. Baggs

Joey F. Baggs, age 100, passed away peacefully at the Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisc Rapids, WI on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, following complications from a broken hip.

Funeral services will be at noon, Sunday, July 9, 2017, at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, WI. Rev John K Stake will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to time of services at Roseberry’s on July 9, 2017.

Joey was born on November 19, 1916, in Lincoln Township, Adams County, WI. He was the 7th and last child of Samuel and Lillian (Finel) Baggs. He spent his childhood days growing up on the family farm. Farming became his main occupation through life. He also had delivered milk from the Westfield, WI Coop and hauled cattle with a great friend Henry Jacobs, Sr.

Joey married Thelma Maude Mussey on December 29, 1937, in Valparaiso, Ind. To this union was born two sons. Sammie W Baggs and Jimmie L Baggs. They spent the majority of their married life living on County Road M in Adams Township, Adams County, WI

Farming engulfed most of his entire life. Not much time for other “thrills” in life. Joey found it hard to even be away from home overnight. The farm needed him. He did find time to enjoy family. He had 3 grandsons, 8 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren with a 4th on the way. The five generations was important to him.

Joey’s mother and father predeceased him along with his 6 other siblings. He also lost the love of his life (Thelma) in February 2002. He is survived by his two sons; Sammie W (Marilyn) Baggs, of rural Grand Marsh, WI; Jimmie L (Jeanne) Baggs, of Ingleside, TX; 3 grandsons; David Baggs of Eau Claire, WI, Darin (Amy) Baggs of rural Grand Marsh, WI and Eric (Wendy) Baggs of Euless, TX.

Further survived by:
Great Grandchildren; Samuel R Baggs, Sr, Barbara (Chris) Kujawski, Darin J “DJ” (Amanda) Baggs, Mariah Baggs, Jon Baggs, Colten Baggs, Dakota Baggs, Angel Baggs and Great Great Grandchildren: Nyeli Baggs, IvyRae Baggs and Samuel R Baggs, Jr.

Special family friends; Michael Mecklenburg and Jodi Farina and Harold and Laura Hollman.  And many other family relatives and friends
