Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Brenda Pulver will officiate. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Easton Cemetery at a later date.

Joan was born May 21, 1933 in Adams, Wisconsin to William and Angie (Lecy) Wilson.

A graduate of Adams-Friendship High School in 1951, she and her twin sister, Jean, were always getting into “double trouble” much to the delight of her classmates and the chagrin of her younger sister, Janice. From high school she worked at Goldia’s, dressing the women of Adams until she chose a dress for her own wedding.

She married Vernon Arthur Roberts on July 16, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Adams, Wisconsin. They were very happily married for 60 years. They moved to many places around the Midwest during Vern’s long railroad career. When Vern retired, Joan finally got to enjoy a place in which to permanently settle down when they moved back to Adams County and purchased their beloved HoHum Valley.

Joan enjoyed time with family and friends and was always the ultimate hostess, even if the guest of honor was the local, backyard fox. She always took pleasure in her bowling teams and was a member of the USBC for many years. “Alice” to her husband’s “George,” she loved spending time with those that were important to her and making sure they were well-fed – using the knowledge she gained taking community college classes for fun in her West Allis years. Where snacks were, her celebrated apple slices were not far behind.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Roberts; parents, William & Angie Wilson; Step-father, Oliver Ollila and half-sister, Joyce Lecy.
