Janice Rae (Buchanan) Pease

photo_pease_webJanice Rae (Buchanan) Pease, 79 of Adams, WI, passed away at home unexpectedly, on December 2, 2016.

Janice’s Celebration of Life will be at Roseberry’s Funeral Home on Thursday, December 8th, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a service at 7:00.

Janice was born to Archie and Rachel Buchanan in Arlington, WI.  She attended school in Lodi, WI and graduated there in 1955. She married Lonnie Pease in 1956.  While in Lodi Lonnie and Jan celebrated the births of 4 Children, Penny Maleski, Holly Manthey (Bruce Kuba), Rick Pease, Scott (Becky) Pease.  In 1969 the Pease family moved to Adams County following a tragic accident where Lonnie’s father and step mother lost their lives (Bert/Anna Pease).  Her children have all continued to live and raise their families in this place they call home, Adams-Friendship.

The family embraced the community of Adams-Friendship and Jan went to work at Kob’s Shoe Store. Several years later Jan then took a job at Moundview Memorial Hospital in the Medical Records Department.  She advocated and chartered the Clerical Union there to protect her fellow employees and was most proud of that accomplishment.   Following her employment at the hospital, she went to work for the Adams-Friendship School system part time.  Jan enjoyed her “retirement” and loved working with the kids.  She was a “super fan” of the Green and White, and spent countless hours with Lonnie cheering on her children and grandchildren, Christopher (Nichol) Manthey, Plover,WI Jeremy John Manthey, Kissimmee, FL, Benjamin Pease, Adams, WI, Michael Pease, Adams, WI, Hannah Pease, Platteville, WI, and Erin Pease, Adams, WI from the bleachers.  She also spent “special time” with her special needs grandson Brett Pease, Adams, WI.   Her great grandchildren Christian Manthey and Sam Manthey were part of her everyday joy.  Her patience and love for her children and grandchildren and large extended family was unmatched, she was always giving and always there for them.

She loved camping with the family, and was a 37 year attendee at the Hodag Country Festival.  She was also an excellent seamstress. She and her neighbor, Brownie Giessel crafted over 100 costumes over the years.  She also made beautiful dresses for her two granddaughters’ special occasions.  She taught her children the joy of volunteering and the importance of giving back. Her and Lonnie spent hours in the summer going to garage sales to collect stuffed animals for the Easton-White Creek Lions Easter Egg Hunt, and antiques for her resale booth in Minoqua.  Jan and Lonnie traveled Wisconsin visiting her relatives the past few years and was always putting others first.  Whatever it be, mending, cheering, cooking, loving, she did it best for all of us. This past summer they decided to open their hearts to a little dog named Sammy, he brought such joy to them both and will be Lonnie’s buddy now. Lonnie and Jan celebrated 60 years of marriage on December 1, 2016 by taking part in the Holiday Parade with friends and family, this was a day of much joy for them both and now gives the family comfort.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Rachel Buchanan, brothers James (JoAnn) Buchanan, Loren (Kaye) Buchanan, and sister Carol (Kearney) Ripp. Sons- in- law, Gary Maleski & Gene Manthey and brother-in-law, Emil “Mike” Wenger.

She is further survived by her two sisters, Norma Wenger & Barbara (Gary) Downing; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn & Kaye Buchanan and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

The family would like to thank the U.W. Carbone Cancer Center, the Lifestar Team, the Adams Fire Department Team, the Moundview Memorial Team, her extended Hodag family, and the community for the outpouring of love and support. www.roseberrys.com
