Helen Jean Scherer

Helen Jean Scherer, 88, of Friendship, WI passed away on September 8th at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Per Helen’s request no services are planned.

Helen was born on August 15, 1930 in Newport, Washington, daughter of Harold and Lillie (Dahl) Bossingham. The family moved to Leith, North Dakota in 1931.

Helen loved music and played the pump organ, piano and guitar. We never tired of her great stories of hard work in her father’s coal mine and shocking vast fields of wheat in her early years. Helen loved to laugh, dance and play country music. She had a wonderful collection of classic country albums and played them for us many times.

Helen is survived by son Richard Babel, daughter Diane (Scott) Walsh; stepsons JR and Clifford Scherer; grandchildren Helen (Jesse) Lenerz, Jeremiah (Anne) Walsh, Mary Babel, and Dwight Bradley; and nine great-grandchildren. Helen is further survived by her siblings Delbert (Ruth) Bossingham, Dorothea (Ervin) Prust, Thelma Haslid and Lois Heim. Also faithful friends Pam Reich, Terry and Sue Ottum.

Helen was preceded in death by son Dwight Babel, beloved husband Arwed (Ozzie) Scherer, daughter-in-law Karla Babel and siblings Lillian Bossingham, Kenneth Bossingham, Lawrence Bossingham, Evelyn Jones, Eleanor Mohr, Beatrice Zeller, Harold Bossingham Jr. and Merrill Bossingham.

Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Villa Pines.

From Psalm 121:
I will lift up mine eyes to the hills, from whence cometh my help.
