Harlan Martin Gollnick

Photo_Gollnick_WebHarlan Martin Gollnick, age 83, of Friendship, Wisconsin met his Lord on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Wm S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital following in Madison, Wisconsin following a short battle with cancer.

Funeral services  will be 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams, Wisconsin.   Rev. John Krebs will officiate.  Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery, Coloma, Wisconsin at a later date.

Harlan was born October 31, 1932 in Amherst, Wisconsin the son of Martin and Laura (Johnson) Gollnick.

He married Dawn A. Whitrock on August 31, 1952 at Coloma.

Harlan went to school in Westfield, WI where he met his future wife.  After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy.  Following Navy Boot Camp he married Dawn and their first station was Virginia Beach, VA.  Harlan served on three ships, one was the USS Norfolk on its maiden voyage.  He spent twelve years in the Navy.

The couple moved back to the Coloma area and then Friendship while Harlan worked at Badger Ordinance in Baraboo until it closed.  He then started his own business doing repair work and opening/closing seasonal homes in Adams County until his death.

Harlan and Dawn had a loving home for their children and foster children in their care.  He enjoyed the school that he transported as a bus driver for the A-F School District for many years.  He was proud of his large vegetable and flower gardens.  He and Dawn were avid R-V’ers traveling through-out the United States, including Alaska.  These later years they enjoyed being winter Texans.

Harlan was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams.

Harlan is survived by his loving wife Dawn; daughters, Pamela Gollnick & Kelli (Joseph) Stone; son, James (Tami Jo Lemon) Gollnick; eight grandchildren, Hallie, Jesse James, Joey, David, Dakota, Andrew, Emily, and Khloe; one sister, one brother, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and one young daughter.
