Glenn B. Moore Jr.

Glenn B. Moore Jr., age 91, of Arkdale, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin.

Glenn was born August 29, 1926, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to Glenn & Eola Moore Sr.

Glenn attended school in Wisconsin Rapids and Arkdale Wisconsin.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Aviation in 1943.  As a tail gunner, he assisted in the liberation of the Philippines during WWII.  During his career, he flew reconnaissance missions worldwide. He retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer in 1964.  He also obtained his private pilot license.

He met Elsie Cornelius in Illinois and they were married in North Carolina in 1948.  They moved to Florida briefly then to Maine where they raised their family and a kennel of Beagles.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He also enjoyed building and driving stock cars.  After retirement from the Navy, he worked for the Bath Iron Works in Bath Maine that produces destroyers for the Navy.

In 1968 Glenn moved the family back to Adams County, Wisconsin where he worked at Badger Ordinance, Managed Castle Rock Park, and part-time for the Adams County Sheriff’s Dept.  Elsie preceded Glenn in death in 1969.

Glenn married Leda Barrett in 1978 and they divorced in 1984.

Glenn settled in Arkdale on the property that was homesteaded by relatives in the 1800’s.  He enjoyed watching the wildlife and spent quality time with his Bassett Hound, “Admiral Snuffy”.  He also enjoyed fly-in fishing trips in Canada and even toured the Amazon River in South America.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Sr. & Eola Moore; wife, Elsie Moore; sister, Mary Apfelbeck, and brother, Roger Moore.

Son:  Glenn (Carol) Moore of Arkdale, Wisconsin
Daughter:  Elaine (Scott) Chadwick of Phoenix, Arizona
Daughter:  Lucille (George) Wiedenhoeft of Iron Mountain, Michigan
Brother:  Benjamin (Shirley) Moore of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin
Sister:  Eola Timm of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin
Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews

Private family services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the local animal shelter.
