Georgene ( Jean ) Frances Zakarian

Georgene Frances Zakarian was born July 6, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to George Walter and Stephanie Anne Anderson. She passed away, quietly in her sleep, on August 5, 2016 from Lung Cancer.

She lived in Chicago till the death of her beloved Paternal Grandmother Frances in 1948. The next year she left to work for McClellan Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island as a ‘pool typist’ . Upon returning, a few years later, she began dancing for Avery Productions and was reunited with her high school sweet-heart Sarkis Zakarian. She traveled with the dance troupe until they married on October 15, 1955. Nine months later saw the birth of their 1st child, a son, Charles Massey. And, in the next 3 years, they were blessed with 2 daughters, Mary Frances Anne and Carol Susan. Delighted with her little family, Jean relished cooking, baking and sewing for them. Making matching dresses for her herself and her 2 daughters continued into their teenage years. Time came to move so the family left the ‘West Pullman’ area of Chicago for a new home in the suburbs. Jean’s time now turned to helping in her children’s schools. She signed up for every bake sale, attended everyone of her children’s school plays and every PTA meeting, and worked on every ‘fun fair’. Her children always left for school with a kiss and a hug and a good packed lunch and returned home to an interested ear and home baked goodies. She instilled good moral, social and spiritual values in her children. She was known for her hospitality all her life.

Jean loved God and His written word from the time she could remember. She read and studied it in order to find the answers to questions so many have. It was important to her to learn what God thought, not man. In 1965, Andrea Fletcher knocked on her door (as is the custom of Jehovah’s Witnesses) and jean agreed to talk to her if she could answer her questions from the Bible. Andrea did, and so began Jean’s understanding to the questions she had asked all her life. Her love for the Truth from Jehovah God’s word was manifest in everything she did. Her greatest joy came from seeing the ‘light of truth’ sparkle in someone’s eyes the first time they realized it. That is why she shared the “Good News of The Kingdom”, that Jesus Himself taught about while on earth, with others. She believed what John 17: 3 says, “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only True God, And the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.” Jean did not just have a hope. She was Sure of the promise of the resurrection that Jesus taught about and so beautifully gave a living example of, when he performed the Earthly Resurrection of Lazarus. (Hebrews 11:1; John 11: 41-44)

Jean was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandfather, John Peter Anderson and Grandmother, Frances Magdalene Anderson who adopted her at age 6. Her biological parents George Walter Anderson and Stephanie Anne Young. Her One Love and Sweetheart Sarkis Zakarian.

She is survived by her Children, Charles (Michelle Gustavis) Zakarian; Mary Zakarian (Brussee) and Carol (Eloy) Medina. Her Grandchildren, Charles Jr., Jean & Zachary Zakarian and Gavin & Samantha Gustavis. Susan Brussee. Her Grandson-Son Sean E. Zakarian. Many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a large ‘family’ of dear friends.

Please Join Family and Friends at a Memorial for Jean at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1826 State Hwy 13, Friendship, Wisconsin, Friday August 12th, Time of visitation: 2:00 p.m.; Memorial Talk: 3:00 p.m.
