Eugene Orville Indgjer “Gene”

Eugene Orvin Indgjer “Gene”, age 86 of Mesa Arizona, formerly of Friendship and Janesville Wi, died May 7 in Mesa, Arizona.

Eugene was born in Mondovi, Wisconsin on February 3, 1931 to Arthur and Olga (Mathieson) Indgjer. He married Naomi (Chitwood) Johnson on December 2, 1967. Eugene worked for JATCO for 31 years hauling cars for GM around the United States. He loved his years on the road but even more, his time in the RV touring the country with Naomi.

He spent many years traveling between his home in Friendship and Val Vista Village in Mesa, where he was often referred to as ‘the first friend I made in the park’. Gene was a good man and his stepchildren will always feel blessed that he was willing to take on a ready-made family of 5 when he married Naomi.

Eugene is survived by his four step daughters; Jeanine (Gene) Fry, Sheila (Jim) Pennycook, Pam (Richard) Dahlke all of Janesville, and Jackie (Jay) Mesiti of Seattle WA. , step daughter-in-law Linda (Chuck) Johnson of Necedah, two brothers Dennis and Mike (Natalie) Indgjer of Janesville, two sisters Eileen Myren and Eldora Johnson both of Eau Claire, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eugene is also survived by a special friend, Barb Lundquist of Mesa/Superior Wi.

He was preceded in death by his wife Naomi on December 2, 2004, his parents, brother Elsmore, and sisters in laws Myrtle Indgjer and Ramona Indgjer, brother- in-laws Howard Johnson and Adolph Myren, and step son Chuck Johnson.

There will be a gravesite service for family at the Town of Quincy Cemetery on June 24. There will be a celebration of Eugene’s life from Noon to 2:30 PM for family and friends at Carlson’s Rustic Ridge, 2230 Town Rd, Friendship, Wi.

    It is with shock and sadness to hear of Gene’s passing.Gene was a wonderful man who was loved by all.We first met Gene 11 years ago when we started going to Mesa,he had a wonderful sense of humour and was always willing to help someone day or night.

    He was my nieghbor for over 25 yrs looked after my golf cart, always had it ready for me
    When I arrived .

    I am so sorry to hear this. Gene was a good friend and regularly called on my mom, Paula, and dad. A superb landscaper, with his and Naomi’s large yard always being just right. He was always willing to share a good word and a good sense of humor. Just a good man we were all happy to call friend. Sympathy to all his family and his friend, Barb.
