Elsie Screnock

Elsie Screnock of 188 N. Grant Street, Adams, WI went to be with her Lord and Savior whom she dearly loved on Thursday, November 10th, 2016. She was born on June 6, 1921 in Chester, PA daughter to Francis and Katherine (Bruchler) Newman. As a child she had to search the train tracks after school with her four siblings, to gather coal that had been dropped by the train to keep their house warm. She married Joseph John Screnock, II on March 31, 1941 who passed away on May 19, 1992. This marriage was blessed with 8 natural born children followed by 4 adopted children.

These children are, Joseph John (Evelyn) Screnock, III; Frances (Terry Muck) Adeney; Thomas (Lynda) Screnock; Catherine (Dean) Franssell; Paul Steven (Angie) Screnock; Russell Dwight (Joan) Screnock; Elizabeth Anne Newman; Esther Susan Murray; Robert John Screnock; Ruth Elsie (James) Prchlik; Wayne James Screnock; and Lee John (Haeyoon) Screnock. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Katherine Newman and her husband, Joseph John Screnock, II.

Elsie was very talented with her secretarial skills, musical ability, and most of all her love for raising her children and her faith in Jesus. She was a very hospitable person. Her door was always open, and an extra chair around her table. Elsie instilled in her children her passion for the Lord and her love of music.

Elsie was a tireless evangelist, passing out gospel tracts and speaking of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at every opportunity. She was a serious student of the Bible, and persons attending Bible studies with her often benefited from her knowledge of Scripture.

She will be sadly missed by many.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Friendship, WI 53934. Mr. David Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, November 18th, at Roseberry’s Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Melvina Cemetery, Melvina , WI.

    Dear Paul and Angie,
We were saddened to hear of your mother’s recent death. At the great age of 95, she lived a long and fruitful life as a mother of 12 children to whom she passed on her love of music. Now we know, Paul, from where your musical talent came. I met Elsie only briefly many years ago at your Woods House and found her to be very gracious. You were fortunate to have her living so close to you in her last years. Please accept our sincere condolences. Love, Beth & Jerry
