Donald William Griffie Jr., age 76, of Arkdale, Wisconsin died Wednesday, April 05, 2017 at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. Richard Eberly will officiate. Interment will be at the Quincy Cemetery, Town of Quincy, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Donald was born October 5, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Donald William and Dorothy Faun (Christensen) Griffie. He married Colleen Doris Van Mater on February 21, 1961. Donald retired from Interstate Brands as a route supervisor after 20 + years.

Donald enjoyed sports of all kinds, his favorite teams were the Oakland Raiders, LA Dodgers, and the LA Lakers. He also loved traveling the United States with his beloved wife, Colleen, making it to every state with the exception of Alaska.

Donald was preceded in death by his step-father and mother, Mel and Dorothy Bleakley; brothers: Leroy and Ralph Bleakley, mother and father in-law, William and Maxine Van Mater, brother in-laws: William (Billy) Van Mater and Terry Pharis.

Great-Grandchild: Benjamin Betancourt of Myrtle Beach, SC
Great-Grandchild: Alexandria Malecki of Myrtle Beach, SC
Brother: David (Velma) Griffie of Kingman, AZ
Sister: Donna Bleakley of Bullhead City, AZ
Sister: Irene (Edward) Savage of Tallahassee, FL
Great-Uncle: Eugene “Bud” Van Mater of Friendship, WI
Sister-in-law: Susan Pharis of Friendship, WI
Brother-in-law: Alan Van Mater of Friendship, WI
Further survived by nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
