Claire M. Wallendal

Wallendal photoClaire M. Wallendal, age 88, of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Crest View Nursing Home in New Lisbon.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.  Pastor Janet Ruark will officiate.  Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.  Interment will be at the Gould Rock Cemetery family plots at a later date.

Claire was born October 31, 1927 in Lewiston, Maine to Jean Baptiste and Donalda (Thibault) St. Pierre.

She married Peter Wallendal on January 25, 1952 in River Falls, Wisconsin.

Claire received her undergraduate degree in Library Sciences and worked as a Librarian for UW River Falls while Pete finished his undergraduate degree.  They then moved to Madison, Wisconsin where Pete continued his post graduate studies.  Together they started their farming operation in the Central Sands area. They focused on irrigated farmland in the Coloma Corners, Richford, and Grand Marsh areas. Claire raised their children while growing the farms.

Claire and Pete, partners for over 50 years, both thought outside the box and enjoyed giving back to the community.  They also thank the community for so graciously giving back to them thereby enriching their lives.  Claire was a member of the Grand Marsh Lionesses, Coloma PTO, Cub Scout Den Mothers, and the WPVGA auxiliary.

Claire enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and puzzles.

Following Pete’s death in 2003, Claire resided at Liberty Manor and then Crest View Nursing Home.  She will be fondly remembered by the staff members for her warm welcoming manner and radiant smile.

Claire was preceded in death by her parents, John & Donalda St. Pierre; husband, Peter Wallendal; sister, Jeanette Faucher; Grandson, Brian Wallendal; Granddaughter, Teresa Wallendal; Son-in-Law, Robert Stodola.
