Bernard “Bun” H. Fritz

Bernard “Bun” H. Fritz, age 90, of Beloit, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Bernard was born September 22, 1928 in Richland Center, Wisconsin, the son of Lloyd and Marjorie Fritz. He was a 1946 graduate of Richland Center High School where he participated in boxing, football, and basketball. He was drafted into the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1947. Bernard took classes to repair televisions and work at Fairbanks Morse Colt Industries of where he retired after 40 years.

He married Norma (Ewers) on June 24, 1951 at the North Clayton United Methodist Church. They moved to Beloit where they had two sons, Bernard and Jeff. They were married 66 years.
Bernard “Bun” lived a full life. He was a member of the UW-Whitewater Quarterback Club, walked every day and was even still riding horse. He swam in the ocean recently and would drive miles to see his grandson, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren.

Bernard is survived by sons: Bernard (Dr. Patricia Stewart) Fritz of Eagan, MN and Jeff (Ginny) Fritz of Friendship, WI; grandchildren: Amy Fritz of California; Hannah (Chad) Brunner of Parrish, FL; Meghan (Dustin) Thompson of Bruce, WI; Trevor Fritz of Adams, WI; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Marjorie Fritz; wife of 66 years, Norma; and brothers: Robert and Richard “Dick” Fritz.

A service will be held at North Clayton Cemetery for family and close friends at a later date.
