Eugene Gwardys, age 85, of Friendship, Wisconsin died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Friendship, Wisconsin.   Father James P. McNamee will officiate.  Interment will be at the St. Leo�s Catholic Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin. 

 

Friends may call on Tuesday at Roseberrys Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.   A prayer service will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.

 

Eugene was born December 12, 1925 in Derewna, Poland to Stanislaw and Marianna (Kopinska) Gwardys.   He served in the Polish Army during WWII, participating in the Battle of Monte Cassino, Italy.  Eugene married Zofia Tazbir on March 31, 1948 in England.    The family immigrated to the United States in 1966, settling in Chicago, IL.  Eugene worked as a machinist for Illinois Gear for 25 years, retiring in 1987.  The couple then moved to Adams County.

 

Eugene enjoyed fishing and gardening, and all sports.

 

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents.

    Daughter:  Jozefa (Zbigniew) Rzemieniecki of Bloomingdale, IL

    Son:  Stanislaw (Maria) Gwardys of Belvidere, IL

    Son:  Bronislaw (Karen) Gwardys of Goodyear, AZ

    Grandchild:  Gregory (Christina) Rzemieniecki of Elk Grove Village, IL

          Great-Grandchild:  Owen Rzemieniecki of Elk Grove Village, IL      

   Grandchild:  Magdalene (Jason) Fitzgerald of Hanover Park, IL

    Grandchild:  Christopher Rzemieniecki of Bloomingdale, IL

    Grandchild:  Adam Mieczyslaw Gwardys of Belvidere, IL

    Grandchild:  Teresa Zofia Gwardys of Belvidere, IL

    Grandchild:  Amanda Gwardys of Goodyear, AZ

    Grandchild:  Brandon Gwardys of Orange, CA

            Great-Grandchild:  Abbigail Gwardys of Goodyear, AZ
