Gordon Malcom Soley, age 89,
of Arkdale, Wisconsin died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at
the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital in
Marshfield, Wisconsin.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m.
on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Roseberry's Funeral Home
in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Terri Skildum will
officiate. Interment will be at the East Arkdale Cemetery,
Arkdale, Wisconsin. Military rites will be offered at the
graveside service by the Adams County Honor Squad.
Visitation will be at Roseberry's Funeral Home on Sunday,
February 8th, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from
10 a.m. until the time of service.
Gordon was born May 11, 1919 in Arkdale, Wisconsin to
Herbert J. and Alvig M. (Olsen) Soley. He was a veteran of
WWII, serving in the Army in the European-African Campaigns.
Gordon married Esther Bagneski on October 8, 1949 at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church in Adams, Wisconsin. He worked for
the Adams County Highway Department for 13 years before
becoming a self-employed dairy farmer. Gordon retired in
2002.
Gordon enjoyed family, baseball, good music, farming,
Case tractors, and Guernsey cattle.
Gordon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale
and past recipient of the FFA Distinguished Alumni Award.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and his
sister, Adelaide Mowatt.
