Marjorie Jane (Marj) Tarvid died February 10, 2008 at
Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina. Marj was a long-time resident of Dellwood,
where she served as Postmaster, Grocer and Good Neighbor.
She has been a resident of Independence, Virginia for the
past 20 years.
A celebration of her life and memorial service will be
held at Carlson�s Rustic Ridge on Saturday, May 17th,
at 1PM. Family and friends will share music, memories, food

Marj married Justin E. Tarvid on July 28th,
1941. They built their log home in Dellwood beginning in
1946. She was preceded in death by husband Jet and also by
her grandchildren Elizabeth, Catherine, Maria and James.
Marj is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: James
and Barbara, granddaughter Sarah and her husband John
Johnson and great-granddaughter, Laura Ruth; son and
daughter-in-law Kevin and Sally and granddaughter Kristina.
Marj is also survived by her granddaughter-in-law Evelyn
(Travis Liddle) , and great-grandchildren Justin, April and
Rebecca Tarvid. She is also survived by many other family
and friends.
Memorials are welcomed and may be directed to the Tarvid
family or the Greenfield Avenue Presbyterian Church, Rev.
