Gerald "Jerry" L. Geers, 65, Coloma, passed away April 9, 2008 surrounded by family. He was born in St. Louis, MO on August 20, 1942 to the late Lawrence and Anna (Reiser) Geers. He married Maxine Burrows December 19,1977 in Hancock, WI. As a child, Jerry lived in California, Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. He graduated from Utica High School in Michigan. In 1961 he joined the Army National Guard and attended boot camp at Fort Leonardwood, MO. He proceeded to join the Army and attended NCO academy at Fort Reilly, Kansas. Gerald went on to become a heavy duty equipment instructor at Fort Belvedere, Virginia for his remaining two and half years. During his service Jerry guarded the Pentagon during the Kennedy assassination. He was discharged from duty in 1964 and moved to Wautoma in 1966. From 1967 to 1970 he worked for the City of Wautoma as chief of police. In 1970 he took the position of EMT, patrolman, and ambulance driver. In 1976 Jerry resigned from the department and began driving semi. In 1977 Jerry went into business with his love and best friend, Maxine. They started J & M Trucking as a contract carrier transportation business. They later went on to own a property broker business, J & M trucking of Coloma, Inc until October 2003. Jerry continued driving until February 2006 when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Jerry proudly served as supervisor for the Town of Colburn for 2 years and Town Chairman for 20 years.

Jerry was a very optimistic, loving, and upbeat person through his life and during his fight with cancer. We will forever cherish the times and hobbies we shared and the memories we created on vacations, camping, snowmobiling, fishing, dancing and boating on the Mississippi River with family and friends. The "A" Team, J.P. Lazy (Bob Warzynski), Bob Lee (Bubba), Ferdinan the Bull (Fred Lumby) a.k.a. Ice Potato, Rick Hahne (Alffie), and Ken and Sue Reilley were also an intricate part of Jerrys life. They worked as a team, had many great picnics and made lifes journey well worth the ride.

Jerry is survived by his wife: Maxine; two sons Kenneth and Jerry of Coloma; daughter: Samantha of Oshkosh; granddaughters: Erica of Coloma and Madison of Oshkosh; dog: Benji of Coloma; brother: Roger (Carol) Geers of Taylor, MO; aunt: Velma Bartlett of Quincy, IL; brother in laws: Leonard (Margaret) Burrows of Coloma; Jerry (Liz) Burrows of Ventura CA; Edward (Marilyn) Burrows of Coloma; Lawrence (Diane) burrows of Coloma; and further survived by many other friends and family.
