Robert R. Eads

Eads_Photo_web_2_done_2Robert R. Eads, age 86, of Arkdale, Wisconsin passed away March 14, 2014 at the Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.   Rev. John K. Stake will officiate.  Interment will be at the Monroe Center Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home. Military honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Robert was born July 10, 1927 in Cicero, Illinois to Rod and Elizabeth (Fern) Eads.

He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1946, that same year he enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean War until 1948. In 1950 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served on the USS Thomas Jefferson until he was honorably discharged in 1954.

Robert married Blanche Challoner on January 22, 1955 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.  They have two daughters, Faye & Patricia and just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

He worked at Schlitz Brewery in Milwaukee before taking a position for the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Nekoosa where he worked for 31 years before retiring in 1989.

Robert loved to hunt and fish but especially enjoyed trapping in the Necedah Refuge.  He also enjoyed cutting wood, playing baseball and traveling.

He was a life-time member of the Adams-Friendship V.F.W. Post #6279 and served with the honor guard for many years.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Rod Eads; Half Sister, Mae Lawson; mother, Fern Lawson and Grandson, John Edman Jr.

Daughter:  Faye (John) Edman of Friendship, Wisconsin

Daughter:  Patricia Wellnitz of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

Granddaughter:  Crystal (Doug) Smith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Granddaughter:  Stacey Wellnitz of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

Great-Granddaughter:  Courtney Edman of Plover, Wisconsin

Great-Grandson:  Colin Wellnitz of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin

Great-Granddaughter:  Hayley Smith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Half-Brother:  Frank (Lorraine) Lawson of Arkdale, Wisconsin

Half-Sister:  Joanne (Don) Huebner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
