Robert O. “Bob” Cole Sr., age 76, of Friendship, Wisconsin died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in Friendship, Wisconsin.
Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Michael Lon Cole will officiate. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home. Military Honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Bob was born November 21, 1937 in Osawatomie, Kansas.
Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He later served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard from 1982 until 1986.
Bob worked at the VA Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona where he met Jeannette Petruska and they were married on January 7, 1973 in Phoenix.
In 1975 they moved to Wisconsin where he worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Adams County Memorial Hospital and in Mauston at Hess Memorial. He then transferred to Riverview hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. He became certified in Respiratory Therapy and then in 1984 went to work at the VA Hospital in Tomah. Bob retired in the early 1990’s with 30 years government service.
Since retirement he enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, going to auctions, and the companionship of his many dogs, the last being his German Shepard Kenai.
Bob was a member of the DAV and the NRA.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Norman & Cecelia Cole and his Great-Grandson, Camdyn Gabriel Slayton

Jan, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Bob. I will always remember Bob telling you to be safe each and every day before you departed for work. I never had the opportunity to have met Bob; however, I am sure he was a wonderful individual as yourself.

Dear Jan- as I read Bob’s obituary, I couldn’t help remember all the wonderful times we had working together when Bob was a RT and you as a RN at Riverview. He was a great guy and I can still see his infectious smile in my mind. My thoughts are with you and your family.
