Smith-WebRobert A. Smith, age 82, of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.  Rev. John K. Stake will officiate.  Interment will be at the Gould Rock Cemetery, Town of New Chester, Adams County, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Sunday.

Robert was born January 6, 1932 in Pine River, Wisconsin to Fred P. and Elsie Smith. He graduated from High School in Wild Rose in 1949 and then attended Washburn in Chicago for construction. Bob married Gladys Hirst on February 24, 1952 in Mt. Morris, Wisconsin. He worked for Sollitt Construction in Chicago for 25 years and 8 years for the State of Wisconsin.

Bob enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting and especially his little dog Wha-Chit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Elsie Smith; two sisters & three brothers.

Son:  Scott (Debby) Smith of Rockford, Illinois
Son:  Rod (Nancy) Smith of Brighton, Illinois
Son:  David (Jeannie) Smith of Huntsville, Texas
Son:  Tony (Shianna) Smith of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin
Six Grandchildren:  Jake, Nathan, Jennifer, Mikayla, Ashley, and Justin
Four Great-Grandchildren:  Ben, Gavin, Jaxon, and Nolan
Sister:  Arvilla Christensen of Waupaca, Wisconsin
Beloved dog: Wha-Chit

In lieu of flowers memorials to the UW-Madison Trauma Center, 600 Highland Ave., Madison, WI 53792 would be appreciated.

    So sorry to hear of Bobs passing – I sure enjoyed visiting with him on Sat. Mornings at the Thirsty Beaver in Westfield as so many others did. Even though I never met any of his family he sure enjoyed talking about you all. Thoughts and prayers for all of Bob’s family. I will surely miss seeing him pull up with his little dog in the truck and chatting about our families.

    So sorry to here of Bobs passing. I always enjoyed my talks with Bob when he came to the clinic.
