She was baptized on September 7, 1919 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Chicago. On June 18, 1922 she was promoted from Cradle Roll to the Beginners Department (Sunday School).

Mildred and her parents moved to Necedah when she was 5 and started school there. The family lived on a farm not far from Fish Lake. Mildred attended a country school in her younger years and graduated from Necedah High School in 1937.

After working in Chicago for a while she married the love of her life, Oliver Jorandby (the handsome guy living at Fish Lake) at her parent’s home in Necedah on August 8, 1939. Mildred was active in the Methodist Church. As a homemaker she enjoyed cake decorating, making wedding, anniversary, and other special occasion cakes. She liked to do embroidery, needlepoint, and paint-by-number. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles to the end.

Mildred worked for Triple P (Farnam) in Necedah for 17 years. While there she made many life-long friends. Together with Oliver they owned and operated “Ollie and Millie’s” Fish Lake Campground for over 20 years. They also enjoyed many camping trips themselves through the years.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver on Mother’s Day, 2000; her parents, brother, George; sisters: Emily, Grace, and Virginia; brothers-in-law: Walter Bittner, Clarence Jorandby, and Russell Lundeen and sisters-in-law: Pearl Jorandby and Jeanette Lundeen.

  6. Pat Yuszcak Jodarski says:

I am so sorry to hear about Ruth, I lost track of the Joranby family after leaving Adams County in 1957. My uncles Pete and Henry Yuszcak used to take me to visit your farm in Necedah and I always looked forward to it. My grandparents owned the farm on the river bottoms and my grandfather Andrew was a landscape architect in Chicago and used to grow trees on their farm for the different parks there. So many memories and so many loses over the years. Deepest sympathies to you all on your loss.
