  4. Yapper and Joanne says:

Craig and I just returned from vacation to learn of Pickle’s passing. Pickle was on our mind the whole time we were gone, but we were so hopeful that he would get his wish and once again be able to shake a leg on the dance floor (and boy could he dance), be free to do the things he loved without being short of breath and just have a better quality of life. Who deserved that more than Pickle? This guy was, without a doubt, the most positive person we have ever met. His entire family should be very proud. We always looked forward to running into him and he always made time to chat with everyone he ran into…and was there if you needed help in ANY way. What a guy, what a guy….the NYPD will never be the same. We are so proud to have known him and loved him.

I was so sad to hear of Mike’s passing. Luckily I did get a chance to meet “Pickle” and “Ape” back in ’09 on my way to Sturgis with friends. To this day, everyone thought I was nuts because I had a cousin named Pickle…They didn’t know how wrong they were. Mike was a great guy, always smiling, always remembering good times from the past. I will regret not keeping in touch with him and the family. I hope that you all find strength in each other during this difficult time.

Pickle man always offered to help me out and sometimes he would even show up.. but always offer! Funny little man! Showed me how sharpen my chain saw and safely drop trees. Took him to the dells car show in the corvette and he says to me “what are all these people lookin at?” I answered “u pickle” I had a lot of laughs and good times with pickle man. This one really hurts. Pickle man was a caring human being, never showed aggression like I do. Smoothed things over. Rare quality. Loved his son and daughter and granddaughter to the moon and back..I’m proud to say I was Pickles friend. I’m sorry u didn’t make it home Pickle Man. I truly thought u would. I miss u already, love u my friend. Rest in pines. U planted millions!

I want to send my condolences to the Cavanaugh family. It’s been so many years since I’ve seen Mike, but I certainly have memories from Grand Marsh Grade School. I didn’t know the name “Pickles” stuck after all these years! I remember playing a lot of touch football on the playground (well it got a little rougher than that), and I remember that Pickles and I were quite competitive playing Ping-Pong. I always liked Mike. He was one of my favorite grade school friends. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May God grant you strength and comfort you with your fond memories.

  29. Tom and Jody Lewandowski says:

Tuesday was a sad, sad day when we received the news of our friend Pickle’s passing into the Kingdom Of God. Even though we all know he is in a better place, it doesn’t make our grief less. What can we say about him? He was such a wonderful man. He knew so many people and could answer almost any question you threw at him – or knew just where to get your answer. How can anyone look at a pine tree – especially his favorite balsam or look at a beautiful fresh Christmas wreath and not think about him? Pickle would help anyone at anytime. Always smiling, always so happy and friendly, never heard him say a bad thing about anyone. He was definitely a one of a kind person and we will miss him dearly. Our deepest sympathies to Mike’s family and friends. We loved him and feel very blessed to have had him as a friend. God bless our friend Pickle!!!

Peppermint scnopes ans 20 cent tap beer. One day they pulled out so fast Arnie fell out the car door and came back in for another round. He said they will miss him when they get to Grand Marsh.
