Margaret E. Heitman, age 96, of Quincy, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at MileBluff Medical Center in Mauston, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale, Wisconsin. Pastor Terri Skildum will officiate. Interment will be at the Quincy Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church and again from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
Margaret Elise Christina Nordlee was born to Christian and Elise Nordlee on January 31, 1919.
Margaret attended Arkdale School and Adams-Friendship High School graduating in 1938.
She married Stanley Buchanan August 13, 1938. To this union 6 children were born. Arlene (Elmer) Sparby of Arkdale, Lorena (Donny) Akins of Scotboro, Alabama, Timothy (Wilma) Buchanan of Arkdale, Elaine Buchanan of Adams, Glen (Roxanne) Buchanan of Friendship, and Linda Bergwin of Baileys Harbor. This marriage ended in divorce.
Margaret worked at the Battery Factory in Lake Delton for two years, she also worked at the Mauston Dress Factory for 17 years.
Margaret married Albert “Pete” Heitman in May of 1970.
In the fall of 1970 she went to work as a C.N.A. at Adams County Memorial Hospital for 11 years. She retired at 63 so she and her husband Pete (who was a wonderful person) could travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert (1998), two brothers, Birger Larson and Norman Nordlee, and many brothers & sisters-in-law.
Surviving are her children, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Ruth Heitman of Carlton, Oregon & June Heitman of Adams, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Heitman of Adams. Also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To all my cousins….I am so sorry to hear of Margaret’s passing. My Dad so enjoyed the lefse that Margaret and Elaine made for the Arkdale church and would drop a bit off for him.

Sorry to hear of. Margaret’s passing. She was our neighbor for 31 years as we lived In the woods behind her before we moved to Arizona. She was always frie ndly to us.

Margaret was so loved and she returned the love. What a pleasure to have known her and to be friends for so long. Her vast knowledge of families in the area seemed endless. Many good times over her kitchen table yielded advice on cooking and baking, generously shared. Margaret had many family members to recall, and she could proudly remember and recite all their names and ages. Condolences to all her family at this time. She would want a celebration of her life. Many times, she said she was ready to meet her Lord, Pete, Pat, to name a few. And we have another angel to watch over all of us. God bless.

Our families go way back and she and every one of you always had a special place in my heart. My only regret is not having been around to spend more time visiting Margaret. She was truly an angel on earth and truly loved her family and friends. If any one has a direct door to heaven it had to be her. So sorry.

Tim and family…….So sorry to hear of Mom’s passing. Am so glad I saw her at the hospital that day and was able to say Hi…… I know my Mom worked at the hospital with her and always remembered her then. Prayers are with all of the family.

To the whole family you all have my thoughts and prayers, When we were first married she would come and help me and teach me ways to handle Berts mother as she had Ms and was in a wheel chair, she was always there to lend a hand. She truly deserves to be a

Pastor Ron sent me out to visit Margaret because she wasn’t feeling well and Elaine was due ………probably Saturday, I can;t remember. In those days Margaret and I still smoked ( both of us have long since quit) so we had a smoke, a coffee and a few windmill cookies. We bonded. I have loved Margaret every since. I know that she is happy where she is tonight. We are sad.

Margaret was a person I remember well from my earliest years in Arkdale. She was a family friend and we saw her often Get daughters were my baby sitter. I honor her life and offer my most sincere condolences to her entire family.
