Margaret E. Heitman

HeitmanMargaret E. Heitman, age 96, of Quincy, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at MileBluff Medical Center in Mauston, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale, Wisconsin.   Pastor Terri Skildum will officiate.  Interment will be at the Quincy Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church and again from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church.

Margaret Elise Christina Nordlee was born to Christian and Elise Nordlee on January 31, 1919.

Margaret attended Arkdale School and Adams-Friendship High School graduating in 1938.

She married Stanley Buchanan August 13, 1938.  To this union 6 children were born.  Arlene (Elmer) Sparby of Arkdale, Lorena (Donny) Akins of Scotboro, Alabama, Timothy (Wilma) Buchanan of Arkdale, Elaine Buchanan of Adams, Glen (Roxanne) Buchanan of Friendship, and Linda Bergwin of Baileys Harbor.   This marriage ended in divorce.

Margaret worked at the Battery Factory in Lake Delton for two years, she also worked at the Mauston Dress Factory for 17 years.

Margaret married Albert “Pete” Heitman in May of 1970.

In the fall of 1970 she went to work as a C.N.A. at Adams County Memorial Hospital for 11 years.  She retired at 63 so she and her husband Pete (who was a wonderful person) could travel.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert (1998), two brothers, Birger Larson and Norman Nordlee, and many brothers & sisters-in-law.

Surviving are her children, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Ruth Heitman of Carlton, Oregon & June Heitman of Adams, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Heitman of Adams.  Also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Pastor Ron sent me out to visit Margaret because she wasn’t feeling well and Elaine was due ………probably Saturday, I can;t remember. In those days Margaret and I still smoked ( both of us have long since quit) so we had a smoke, a coffee and a few windmill cookies. We bonded. I have loved Margaret every since. I know that she is happy where she is tonight. We are sad.
