Ludmila “Dolly” Holtz-McLain

Scan_Photo_McLain_webLudmila “Dolly” Holtz-McLain, age 98, of Adams, Wisconsin died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena, Wisconsin.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Friendship, Wisconsin. Father James P. McNamee will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Wisconsin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday July 3, 2015.

Dolly was born November 17, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Lillian (Cerny) Klein.

She attended school and spent most of her childhood in Quincy Township, Adams County.

Dolly moved to the Chicago area where she got her Certificate in Early Childcare and worked for the Mannheim family. She later moved back to Quincy and worked at the Adams Co. Home.

Dolly married Elmer Holtz in October of 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa. They were married for 25 years and during this time they had one son, Ronald. Elmer and Dolly lived on the Holtz family farm near the town of Oxford. Elmer passed away on December 12, 1966. Dolly then worked at various retail stores as a clerk in and around the Oxford area. On May 15, 1993 she married Howard McLain. They were married for almost 21 years. Howard passed away on April 9, 2012.

Dolly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, movies, dancing, music, gardening, traveling, and going to the casino. She was very social and enjoyed her stay at Liberty Manor with all of the residents and staff, especially Val & Debbie. Dolly would always look forward to Visits from Fr. Mac and Deacon Dave.

She was a member of the St. Anne Catholic Church in Brooks, the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Friendship, the PCCW, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, John & Lillian Klein; First Husband, Elmer Holtz; Second Husband, Howard McLain; sister, Sylvia Goslawski; brother, August Klein and sister, Anna Ruth Gorlen.

Grandson: Kirk (Laura) Holtz of Racine, Wisconsin
Granddaughter: Mary Jo (Ryen) Westerberg of River Falls, Wisconsin
Grandson: William (Lisa) Holtz of Westfield, Wisconsin
Great-Grandson: Adrian Holtz of DePere, Wisconsin
Great-Grandson: Liam Holtz of Westfield, Wisconsin
Great-Grandson: Charlie Holtz of Westfield, Wisconsin
Sister: Olive Turek of Chicago, Illinois
Brother: Lawrence Klein of Arkdale, Wisconsin
Brother: John (Paula) Klein of Friendship, Wisconsin
Sister: Carole (John) Havel of Friendship, Wisconsin
Further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Salvation Army.
