Lona D. Holub

Lona D. Holub, age 83, of Arkdale, Wisconsin entered into eternal life Friday, January 16, 2015 at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Friendship, Wisconsin. Father James P. McNamee will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will also be held in Haugen, Wisconsin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 26th, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Father John Powers will officiate. Friends may call at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday, January 26 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will then follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Haugen, Wisconsin.

Lona was born April 11, 1931 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to Willis and Ethel (Hodgson) Burchell. She attended schools in Chippewa and Dunn Counties where she received several awards of honor for academics and attendance. Lona attended Colfax High School before transferring to Chetek High School where she graduated on June 1, 1949. She married the love of her life, Robert J. Holub on October 19, 1949, with whom she spent over 65 years.

Lona loved nature and spending time and laughing with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, fishing with her husband, playing musical instruments, playing cribbage, and supporting the Packers.

Lona was a member of Jack Pine Savages Snowmobile Club.

Lona was preceded in death by parents: Willis and Ethel Burchell; two infant sons; two daughters, Helen Lahn and Roberta Rosploch.

Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Holub Sr.; children: Robert Jr. (Becky), Diane Grant, Donald, Joseph, Janet, James, Julie (Roy) Edwards, and Jerry; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one brother, Elton (Florence) Burchell; sons-in-law, John Lahn and Robert R. Rosploch Jr.; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

    I am so sorry Lona has passed. Cherish the memories forever. I will always remember our special story of “the pack of Pall Malls” from 1968. We will all miss that dear lady.

    We were sad to learn of Lonas passing. She was such a dear lady and a good friend. We will miss seeing her at all the snowmobile functions. She sure did enjoy the summer picnic. Rest in Peace Dear Lona.
