Lila Joan Peterson, age 58, of Friendship, Wisconsin passed away April 8, 2014 at the St. Joseph’sHospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin due to complications of diabetes.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Douglas Schauer will officiate. Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Coloma. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.
Lila was born December 22, 1955 in Racine, Wisconsin to Donald and Joanne Strike.
She married Walter N. Peterson on October 7, 1978 in Friendship, Wisconsin.
Lila enjoyed fishing in her younger days and she loved spending time in her garden and flower beds. Camping with her friends and family was her favorite past-time and having to go to the Adams County Demolition Derby every year. The most rewarding part of her life after her daughter, was caring for the many foster children that came through her home for the past 20 years.
Lila was so proud and excited for the arrival of her first grandbaby- Gabriel Alexander in June.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald & Joanne Strike; Father-in-law & Mother- in- law, Robert & Jane Peterson; Brother-in-law, Lee Peterson; Brother-in-law, Raymond Peterson and Brother-in-law, Mark McIlvoy

We are so sad to hear of Lila’s passing. We have many memories when we first had the bar and the times she helped us out,
also the fun times we had there. How often we talked about being the same age. She touched many lives and made them smile!
What a surprise! Steve called & told us tonight (4-13-14). Or sincere condolences to you and the family. I remember so many things Lila & I did at The Country Deli and how she helped me when Harvey had his heart attack. We have lots of memories of you guys. Memories last forever. How wonderful that she was able to see her grandbaby, I’m sure she was “proud as a peacock”.
She was a lovely lady, full of life with her foster children, daughter & family & those who knew her.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Wish that I could have been there for you. I still remember the good times that we had when we young and running around together. My fondest memories were singing and dancing in the basement. We called ourselves the Basement Girls. She will be missed. May God bless you and your family.

There is no greater honor than being a mother. Lila exemplified this above and beyond what many would consider an inconvenience . The Peterson and Strike families will have much to tell Gabriel about her grandmother. On this day the birds sing, the thunder claps, buds form and ready themselves to open. Wally, Haley, Tianna and Paige and Family …I’m am Sorry for the loss Of the Most sweetest person I have ever met..Lila has been one of my Best-friends for over 5 years and we talked often .,.She Had to call me the day she found out she was gonna be a grandma for the first time..To say Brenda I get to feel the feeling you tell me about your Grandchildren ..She said I’M GONNA BE A GRANDMA,,,We both cried..We sat for hours and talked about all the things she was gonna do and buy..She Loved the south and had me send her Speckled Butter bean and Liver pudding as she couldn’t buy it there. I could go on and On with all the talks we have had ..My Heart is broke <3 She will forever live in my heart …She was a true Angel here on this earth Now she's the Prettiest Angel ,with wings to fly anywhere she wants go now..I love ya'll and wish i could be there ..Love ya Bren Bren

So sorry for your loss. Lila was a wonderful Lady. She was such an important part of our lives, as all of you are. Being Tina’s babsitter, you became Tina’s Second Family. There isn’t a time from Tina’s childhood that didn’t reflect your influence in Tina’s life and ours either. Even to getting Tina to eat her veggies, which she would only do at “Auntie’s” cuz she made them taste the best. Lila touched so many lives with her Love and Guidance. She will be forever remembered by those of us who shared her life. The love and guidance she gave will continue on with all of her Family.
Times like these always makes me think of the good times and memories you have of the person and family that are dealing with their loss….I have two fond memories of my Aunt Lila…1st – it was summertime at Pineland campground and the whole damn family of Peterson’s was camping along beside each other, and I remember going to the pool with her and she taught me how to swim. 2nd – her most famous phrase of when I was trying to grow a mustache…she said “that aint no mustache, thats just peach fuzz!” Many more memories that will always be in our hearts forever. Our hearts go out to you, Uncle Wally and Haley.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this time. Lila was a beautiful person inside and out. She touched so many lives of everyone around her, especially each child that was in her care. It was a privilege knowing her and she will be forever missed.

Lila was a wonderful loving person. So caring and always there for everyone. She has a special place in heaven. The stars were shining bright last night I looked up and knew she was shining down looking over us all. Words cant describe how sweet and caring she was. Everyone of those children that went through her home felt the love of wut a child should have but not all received it from their blood family.lila was always making delicious meals and baking. She loved camping and listening to music. She was a great mom mother to haley peterson tiannia and paige and all the fortunate ones who came thru her home in foster care. It was so hard for lila to let go when the children had to leave. She had not just a heart but a special heart bc it takes alot to take children in especially when they were disobedient At times. It really broke my heart to hear of Lila’s passing. She was an awesome person. I remember spending forever over at her house in her basement and all the times I had stayed there… Not to mention she and Wally had known me since I was a very little one as they were friends with my grandfather. Lots of fond memories. My heart goes out to her family.
