Toltzman.Jean.Good0001Jean M. Toltzman, age 94, a resident of Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center has entered into eternal life on Monday, September 21, 2015.

Jean was born on January 11, 1921 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Carl F. and Amanda (Wilke) Meyers. She graduated with the class of 1938 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Jean was a lifetime member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church and active in Bible Class, Ladies Aide and Evening Circle serving as President and Secretary over the years. She was employed at Mirro Aluminum Company from 1966 until 1980. Jean took classes at the tech school learning cake decorating, metal tooling, sewing, upholstery, first aide and key punch. Jean enjoyed spending time with her husband Fred at their cottage in Northern Wisconsin hunting, fishing and relaxing. She loved to bake and decorate cakes, including her daughter’s wedding cakes as well as many graduation and confirmation cakes for family and friends. Jean enjoyed sewing including her daughter’s wedding dress. She remembered all her friends and relatives birthdays, anniversaries, holidays and sent greetings on a regular basis. Jean volunteered at the Alzheimer’s Day Care Center after losing her husband to Alzheimer’s in 1992. Jean cared for her husband in her home with the assistance of her daughters, relatives and friends until his passing.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law: Diane Roekle, Friendship; Betsy and Clyde Sanders, Manitowoc; six grandchildren including: Heidi Roekle, Adams; five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, including Dale Toltzmann, Friendship, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband and one son-in-law: Karl Roekle, Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street.Manitowoc. The Rev.’s Benjamin Schaefer and Christopher Hoppe will officiate with burial of her cremated remains at EvergreenCemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Alzheimer’s Research or First German Ev.Lutheran Church. Jean will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. The family would like to thank the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, all Jean’s caregivers and doctors in the last 10 years for their compassionate care given to Mom.
