Gladys Ella Leona Born McConnell, age 95, of Lake Mary, FL, formerly of Friendship, WI, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015.

Gladys was born June 8, 1919 in North Burnett, WI to the late Robert and Mary Burndt Born.  She married John McConnell on May 15, 1937 in Galena, IL.

Her first job, at 17, was at Teeple Shoe Factory, Waupun. She also worked at the Mauston Garment Factory and the Adams County Memorial Hospital.

Gladys was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend; always ready to lend a hand. She loved to cook, sew, do crafts, garden and win at cribbage.

In addition to her late husband John she was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Ann McConnell Wheeler; sister, Mildred Giese and brother, Lester Born.

She is survived by daughter, Sandra (Mark Brod) McConnell Cashman, The Villages, FL; Grandchildren: Troy Wheeler, Minnetonka, MN; Kimberly (Art) Dahms, Stevens Point, WI; Steve (Mary) Brod, Midlothian, VA; Peace Brod (Joe) Meade, Fort Myers, FL; 8 Great Grandchildren: Cody Dahms, Caitlin Dahms, Stevens Point, WI; Kyle Brod, Jake Brod, Midlothian, VA; Gavin Meade, Nora Meade, Summer Meade, Ezri Meade, Fort Myers, FL.

A memorial service will be held at the Roseberry Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Friendship, WI on Tuesday, April 7; visitation at 10:00, funeral at 11:00. Pastor John Krebs will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 243 N. Linden St, Adams, WI.
