Such sad news. My sympathy to George’s family — he was so proud of his children and grandchildren. I worked at Thomas More High School when George was there. He was so good-natured and kind and a very loyal friend — a really good person. May he rest in peace.

  8. Kevin Doan says:

George worked with me in the Maintenance dept at Thomas More High School. Boy, Could I tell you stories but the space will not allow it. He was always very caring and kind hearted, and hard working. He was always there to lend a helping hand and was generous with his time when it came to helping others. He helped me many times at my place in Big Flats and you could always get a good laugh when he was around. My sympathy to the family and George, may you rest in peace.

  9. Linda Gesbeck says:

My condolences to George’s family and friends. I worked with George for 10 years at Thomas More HS. He was a great asset to our maintenance department — keeping up the buildings and grounds, assisting everyone (especially on his afternoon-evening shift), and repairing all the things that need creative fixes in a high school. George was reliable and he never knew a stranger. A good man has gone to God. Rest in peace, George!

  10. Janice and Cal Klug says:

I knew George From Harold’s supper club in Greenfield Wi and he was a great bartender and so much fun, we did visit him up in Grand marsh. A real social man who did a lot on earth. Always a friend to every one. Jan and Cal Klug

  11. Rick & Birdie Johnson says:

So sorry to hear of George’s passing. He was a good friend, and was a great help to our Corn N Tater Festival every year. He will be greatly missed but we will always remember how helpful and kind he was. No matter where we seen him, he always said hi and struck up a conversation. Maybe there is a festival up in heaven that he can organize!!!

  12. Barb Andrews says:

George was so much more than a neighbor, he was like family. From the first day that I owned my house, George was there, offering friendship and a helping hand whenever it was needed. It was fun to sit around and chat over coffee or a beer, running into him down the road, or at the fish fry in town. He would share stories about Patricks Lake and Grand Marsh from years ago, and even stories about my own property and the people who loved it before I did. He was very good to my family, he would give my grandkids rides on the motorcycle or the golf cart at Corn N Tater so they’d feel like rockstars! He would help me get my snowmobiles going and we’d go for long rides to White Creek. He even let my grandson drive his sled last time, which was a huge thrill for him! He helped out so much at my daughters wedding down by the lake. Even when my dog ran away, I would hear George holler, “he’s over here, Barb!” (he gave him treats!)
I can’t begin to imagine life without him, he’s such a big part of our lives up there. I’m gonna miss you, George. We all are.

  13. Angela Nell says:

Uncle George was the best uncle anyone could ask for. My dad would take us up north every other weekend during the summer and we would get to play with our cousins and go on adventures. It really made me look forward to summer. Plus one year, we did a lot of Brewers tailgating. When my daughter was born, he was so supportive and was very good to my daughter. She became his little shadow, following him wherever he went. He would tell her that he was the king. There are too many great times to list, but will always live on in my heart. I know he’s having a great time in Heaven.

  14. Kelly Domurat says:

George and my mom, Mary, spent many years together. We had so many great memories growing up and being up north. He gave me so many great things to hold on to and I will cherish those things forever. Too many things to mention, but he was generous, talkative, and sassy when he wanted to be. He is in Heaven and he would only want love and peace for all of us. He is on a wonderful journey on the other side!!!!! God Bless Pam, Mike and his wonderful grandchildren. Always keep him in thought, it will keep him around!

  15. Jim Gately says:

George, we called him “Mr, Detail.” A generous guy, always there to help. To give you the shirt off his back, when he didn*t have it to give. Never to say “No” when you needed help. The glass was never “half empty”with George, it was always “half full.” A better friend one could not find. We will miss you George. Rest in peace my good friend. p.s. There is a sign on the gates to Heaven, “Bartender Wanted.”

  16. Tom & Cathy Croke says:

We were all a bit richer for knowing George & now we’re all a bit poorer for his passing. His big heartedness & ready smile will be sorely missed and our Murfy will miss the dog treats George doled out to him on his morning walks. Rest in peace dear friend.
