MADISON/PORTAGE — Eugene L. Roller, age 52, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle of 16 years with Neurosarcoidosis.

Eugene was born on January 13, 1963, in Milwaukee, the son of Ralph and Darlene (Henriksen) Roller. Eugene had worked for Coca-Cola for several years until his diagnosis. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, camping, boating, and working on his cars, but time spent with family was what was most important; he loved spending time with his daughters.

Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Darlene Roller, of Adams, his wife, Patricia Hardt Roller, of Portage; his daughters, Rachel (Derek) Erickson, of Sparta, Robyn Roller, of Tomah, Krystle Roller, of LaCrosse, and Ashley Roller, of Portage; his step-daughter, Kari (Tyler) Miller, of Menomonie; his step-son, Jason Hardt, of Portage; his grandchildren, Hannah Willis, Evan Erickson, Isaac Erickson, and Maddison Miller; his sisters, Ann (Mike) Cwikla, of Arkdale, and Beverly McGibbon, of Nekoosa; his nephews and nieces, Michael Cwikla, Nicholas Cwikla, Anthony Cwikla, Andrew Cwikla, Jessica Roller, Amanda McGibbon, and Carissa McGibbon. He is further survived by aunts, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Candice, his granddaughter, Emma Roller, his grandparents, Bernard and Helen Roller, and his grandmother, Esther Dougay.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Portage, with Rev. Greg Hovland officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Roseberry’s Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Friendship, WI 53934, and on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church, in Portage. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established by the family.

    Mere words can never express how deeply saddened I was & still am at the news of Gene’s passing. I know y’all are hurting & will always be missing him.     Thoughts and prayers to friends and family of Gene. I worked with Gene at coca-cola many years ago in the service dept. He was a great person, hard worker, and always pulling jokes. He fit in perfectly in the dept. where everyone loved to joke around with each other. He was one of those people that you enjoyed coming to work every day with. Rest in peace Gene.

    We will miss Gene. I loved the time we had together. Many great memories on Grandpa and Grandma Henriksen farm. Gene was very proud of his daughters.
