David Kent Babcock

David Kent Babcock, age 80, of Adams, Wisconsin died Friday, October 16, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Sherry Hoening will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery in Friendship. Military honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday.

David was born May 3, 1935 in Springville Township, Adams County, Wisconsin to Francis and Arlene Babcock. He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1953. David enlisted in the United States Army in 1955, and was assigned to help build the airfield in Chelveston Air Base in England. He was honorably discharged in 1957. He married Elaine Nelson on July 11, 1959 at the Friendship Congregational Church in Friendship, Wisconsin. They had three children Todd, Debbie, and Jeff. David owned and operated Roche-A-Cri Gas Service in Adams for many years until he retired in 1999 and passed the business down to his children.

Dave loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dave enjoyed the woods and logging, traveling, going to many school sporting events, and hunting & fishing. He had a love for airplanes, history, and hunting for arrowheads. Dave was an avid Packer fan. He especially enjoyed his morning breakfast at the Country Skillet with his many friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Francis & Arlene Babcock; brother, Steven Babcock; brother, Nick Babcock; Sister-in-law, Carol Babcock and Father & Mother-in-law, Vic & Pearl Nelson.

    On behalf of Adams County Ducks Unlimited committee I also extend our prayers to a guy who was always at our banquets. He was a true conservationist, hunter and showed deep concern for the future of our environment. His love of the outdoors was an important part of his life.
