Charles Hill

Charles R. Hill, age 80, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Monday, March 17, 2014 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2823 County Road Z, Town of Quincy, Adams County, Wisconsin. Rev. T. Christian Nelson will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Charles was born September 17, 1933 in Jackson Township, Adams County, Wisconsin to Charles R. and Della Hill. He graduated from Oxford High School.  Charles worked as a carpenter in Milwaukee and later Madison, Wisconsin.  He married Shirley J. Heitman on May 7, 1960 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

They made their home in Oxford before moving to New Haven Township on their farm.

Charles enjoyed working on the farm, fishing, and playing euchre.

Charles served on the New Haven Town Board, the Adams County Board of Supervisors, and St. John’s Lutheran Church Board.

Memorials may be directed to the St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. and Della Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Edwin Bartz; nephew, Ronald Bartz; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willie and Alvina Mikoda.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hill of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; brother, Norman (Carole) Hill of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; Special Friends: Jim and Sophie Mandarino; Nieces and Nephews: Craig & Patricia Bartz of Endeaver, Wisconsin, Edwin and Candice Bartz of Portage, Wisconsin;  Fred  Bartz of Lodi, Wisconsin, Mary  & Tom Tennyson of Portage, Wisconsin, Harold and Amanda Bartz of Tallent, Oregon; Norman and Cheryl Hill Jr. of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; and Christine and Bret Hanson of Genoa City, Wisconsin.   Further survived by many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

    I’m so shocked and saddened to see that Chuck passed away, Shirley. I would have gone to the funeral if I had known about it a day sooner! I haven’t seen either of you in a long time, since I’ve lived so far away for so many years. Always thought you were both real nice folks and enjoyed visiting with you whenever our paths crossed.     I was shocked to see that Charlie had passed away. It doesn’t seem too long ago we all spoke together. You have my deepest sympathy for your loss. You two seemed to fit together like a hand and a glove. You always complimented each other. It was an honor to serve with him on the Adams County Board of Supervisors. We had a good team back then and were in control of our Departments. Many a good meetings were held. Shirley I will be unable to make the services for Charlie. Please accept my condolences. Remember to share your memories through your tears and laughter. When you see a Cardinal remember, that will be Charlie coming to check up on you and give you comfort.
